Community Giveaway
Community Giveaway
An annual tradition deeply rooted in the Christian values of love, compassion, and generosity. It all began years ago when Pastor Hines was preparing to turn 60 on December 31st. As he reflected on this milestone, he heard a clear message from God: “Do not take anything for yourself—give it all away.”
In obedience to this call, Pastor Hines felt led by the Holy Spirit to organize a community-wide event to bless others during the holiday season. This initiative was inspired by the words of Jesus Christ, who taught us that it is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35). Pastor Hines wanted to model this Christ-like generosity and show the love of Jesus through tangible acts of kindness.
the mission
The first December Community Giveaway was a simple act of faith and obedience, but the impact was anything but small. Pastor Hines reached out to community leaders, local businesses, and friends to help raise funds and gather food for families in need. With the support of many, this humble initiative raised $67,000 in its first year, and this past year, the amount increased to $70,000—providing food and finances to over 875 families.
Each year, members of the community are invited to participate by contributing financially or through food donations. These donations go directly toward providing non-perishable food, essentials, and financial assistance to families struggling during the Christmas season.
What started as an act of obedience has grown into an annual tradition that continues to bless families in the Jackson area and beyond. Each year, the December Community Giveaway strengthens the ties of the Christian community, providing both material help and spiritual encouragement to those in need.
