A Gift That Keeps on Living

Growing up in Benton Harbor, Pastor Hines witnessed the closing of a gym at a well-to-do church—a place where African Americans once gathered to practice basketball. The gym closed its doors because it lacked the financial foundation to remain open. This memory drives Pastor Hines’ determination to ensure the Lily Missions Center (LMC) does not face the same fate.

In 2002, Pastor Hines and his wife, Sister Leontyne Hines, made a $5,000 donation to create the Jackson Community Endowment for the center. They also established an endowment specifically for LMC. He believes that the community can handle the resources with greater care and insight than any individual could. With solid securities in place, the endowment ensures that LMC can continue its mission and impact for generations to come.

Legacy. Community. Sustainability.

Pastor James L. Hines has dedicated nearly 38 years of his life to serving the Jackson community. With a heart committed to long-term impact, his vision extends far beyond his personal service. His desire is simple—he wants his work to outlive him, not by name, but by substance.

A Gift that lasts

This endowment is more than just a financial foundation; it is a gift that keeps on living—a legacy that will allow others to manage the resources and carry on the mission, securing the future of LMC long after Pastor Hines is gone. Through this thoughtful and enduring gift, Pastor Hines ensures that the center will remain a beacon of hope, outreach, and community support for future generations.
